Description: I painted this nature-inspired abstract painting near Folly Beach in Charleston, South Carolina. I remember watching an astronomy video on YouTube where the camera followed the geography of the Earth from the air, with a commentator describing all of the mountains, valleys, rivers that we were observing. The commentator mentioned, "It is good that we cannot see the Earth this way all the time, or we would take no interest in the other planets in our solar system, because the Earth is just so beautiful". So, I pondered the beauty of our home planet for several days after that, thinking of the beautiful glow that Earth exhibits from space, a glow of blue and gray and brown and green, the atmosphere hugging the planet, and I began to have a strong desire to put it into a painting. The result was this abstract geometric orb. It was a difficult and exacting painting, with little room for any variation on the strict sharp curves; but I enjoyed the challenge.
